Today’s Acne Treatments

Today’s Acne Treatments

Today’s medical world is especially complicated when it comes to drug manufacture that is targeted to specific problems This is because pharmaceutical companies are trying to make as much money from as many gets, ointments, pills and injections that we can buy. It is largely a failure when it comes to being open to alternative approaches to medical problems, such as acne, which result from outside the realm of deductive science. It is what many people like to call ‘paralysis by analysis’. That is why for years western medicine failed to draw ties between diet and acne. Medical and technological advancement has led to the treatment of symptoms rather than addressing the root causes of acne!

Our Lifestyles and Acne

An ordinary day for a teenager will include gobbling gallons of coffee or carbonated drinks, all loaded with tons of sugar, as the liquid part of nutritional intake. For the solid part, snacks that contain highly processed sugars and sometimes laced with caffeine to make them addictive! This mass consumption of refined carbohydrates and sugar is the ultimate culprit for many individuals’ problems with acne. Recent scientific studies show without a doubt that when carbohydrates and sugar are metabolized they lead to an increase in insulin and an insulin-like growth factor called I.G.F.-1 production. These sugars make your sebaceous glands hyper-active which is wrong considering that they are already over-zealous in their sebum production! The end result is a break out of many pimples. That is why our lifestyle has an immense correlation with acne.

So What Exactly Do We need to Change?

First of all you can do with less of refined carbohydrates, chocolates, caffeine and carbonated drinks. This is a lifestyle choice that you alone can effect. It will make you feel sad and groggy the first few days, because your body is used to being pounded my tons of ‘feel-good’ products, which wreck havoc on your skin.

What Can I pickup to expedite the process of clearing up?

But it may surprise many to know that giving up mo-ca-lattes may not be the only way to go about getting clearer skin. Rather, targeted nutritional intake for acne sufferers, in particular raw vegetables and antioxidants which can actively clear up skin. These foods act as a sort of mop within the body to soak up toxins, help rejuvenate and tighten your skin, and help in the control of your hormones. This is because vegetables and fruit contain the one thing that humans cannot synthesize from other food stuffs: Vitamins!

You might want to consider taking up Vitamins.

Vitamins are what you get after digesting vegetables. Sometimes though, we might not be getting enough. Or in the winter season, some vegetables will be hard to get.

One of the creepiest feelings associated with menopause, without a doubt, is skin crawling. In fact, during menopause, a number of skin/nerve related conditions might be experienced, including itchy or dry skin, tingling feelings, and skin sensitivity. These conditions are all normal, but there are also a number of treatments available for menopausal women who are experiencing pain or problems with their skin.

Flashback for a moment—probably around the time you were in middle school. Whether you were a member of the cheerleading squad or you spent most of your time in the library matters not; most girls this age battle a common problem: acne. It is no coincidences that this trouble starts to occur around the time girls first start menstruating. When this begins, the hormones in a young girl’s body are rapidly changing, and the skin reacts in a somewhat negative way. Hormone levels in an adult woman’s body are no different. As menopause begins, your skin reacts to the changing levels in your body, and the results can be sometimes unpleasant.

The prickly crawling feeling that many women experience is called formication. Women usually experience this one to two years after their last period and during the end of perimenopause and the beginning of menopause. While doctors are still largely unsure of its cause, formication goes away on its own in a relatively short period of time for most women. Many speculate that the cause of this is an overworked, hot liver, which happens when your hormones are changing rapidly, as they are at the onset of menopause.

However, itchy, dry, sensitive skin can last much longer and become painful if it goes untreated. For treatment, see a dermatologist. Often times, the same remedies that worked when you were a teenager also work now—moisturizing your skin, washing sensitive areas like your face very gently and with special washes, using prescription acne medications, washing your pillowcases often, and using less oily makeup.

Unlike formication and sensitive skin, tingling in the extremities might be a cause to worry. Although many menopausal women experience tingling in their feet, hands, legs, and arms, they can also be signs of more serious problems, like diabetes, vitamin deficiency, depletion of calcium, depletion of potassium, or blood vessel/circulation problems. Be safe—always see a doctor if you experience the tingling for an expended period of time.

Seeing a doctor is simply your best bet in the end for any type of menopausal problem, skin related or not. He or she can suggest a number of treatment options, including medication, natural remedies, therapy, diet change, exercise programs, and alternative treatment options. Testing for menopause is difficult—your hormones during this time period change rapidly from day to day—but what doctors can do is rule out any other medical reasons for the skin problems you are experiencing. Sometimes menopause can be confused with the onset of a serious disease or disorder, so if you have any doubts in your mind, talk to a health care professional about your crawling, dry, itchy, or tingling skin sensations.

Acne is a skin disease, which is prevalent in all age groups and sexes. In its severe cases, the simple appearing pimples, cysts or nodes may take the shape of permanent scars, which obviously are not admirable.
It is due to this reason that people have become conscious enough to take the various preventive measures and required treatments. This increase in the awareness in especially observable in adults of age group 30 years and beyond, who were earlier shy enough to report to dermatologists earlier believing that this is a teenager disease.
This is evident from the statistics so available. The ratio of the number of cases reported in 1999 to that are reported now have a great difference.
It has been studied that adult acne affects 25% of all adult men and 50% of adult women sometime in their adult life. It may get developed or re-occur in their 30s, 40s and beyond, and may result in lifelong depression or social anxiety in adults in a similar way as it can in teens.
The cause of this is yet to be discovered, but in many cases, it is suspected to have something to deal with hormonal roots. So if you are suffering from such disease, get yourself checked because your negligence or shyness may result in ever lasting physical and psychological ramifications.
As far as the treatment of this skin disorder is concerned, you can check out the various acne products that the market is full of or can give a try to the most popular treatment for adult acne, which is very similar to the treatment for teen acne. This simple and easy go method basically involves the use of benzoyl peroxide to have clear skin regimen. But the most recommended method still remains same; consult the dermatologists to know what is best suitable for you because you may end up worsening the conditions if you keep on testing things on your infected skin.
br
The term acne refers to whiteheads and blackheads (skin pores that get clogged) and nodules or cysts, which are deep lumps. These are found on a persons face, chest, neck, back shoulders and sometimes the upper arms. Most teenagers are affected by acne to some degree although folks in other age groups can experience acne as late as into their 40s. Its not life threatening but can be disconcerting to your view of yourself and can even be permanently disfiguring if severe. A person with acne can end up with permanent scars. In fact, it doesnt even have to be severe at the outbreak to end up scarring forever.

Acnes causes go back to hormonal changes at the onset of puberty, with oil glands producing in abundance. These oil glands, known as sebaceous glands, are primarily affected by male hormones known as androgens. Females have androgens as well, though they dont have as many as males.

A hair shaft inside a sebaceous gland make up what is known as a sebaceous follicle. While going through puberty, the skin cells lining these follicles shed more quickly than in past years. In those who experience acne the cells shed but stick together more than in those who dont get acne. When these cells stick together this overabundance of sebum (oil) probably will end up plugging the follicles opening and because the sebaceous gland doesnt stop producing its sebum the follicle simply swells up.

What also happens is that a bacterium called P.acnes, that is normal to have in skin, start to quickly multiply in the hair follicle that is clogged. The substances produced by these bacteria are irritating and cause inflammation. The follicle sometimes bursts and then the inflammation spreads to skin surrounding it. This is the way that acnes lesions – whether pimples, blackheads or nodules – form.

There are several myths about acne that wed like to dispel. The first is that your poor hygiene causes acne. People who believe this myth ended up scrubbing their faces and other skin parts harshly and too often, which often makes the acne condition even worse. Acne does not happen because your surface skin is covered by dirt or oil. While you dont want to leave dead skin, dirt or excess oil on your skin you dont want to vigorously scrub it away either, or youll exacerbate the acne problem. What you should do instead is wash your face gently twice each day and then put it dry. You may also want to use an acne treatment – over the counter or prescribed.

The second myth about acnes cause is that stress brings it on. Ordinary stress is not related to acne at all, although if you suffer from stress that becomes severe enough to warrant the care of a physician and prescribed medications those medications might produce acne. If youre taking drugs for depression or other stress related symptoms and you have an acne breakout you should see your doctor.

The third myth about acne is that your poor diet choices cause it. Your mother probably told you to avoid chocolate or fried foods or even pizza and it would help your acne. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Food intake doesnt affect acne. A balance diet is a good choice for your overall health, of course, but it just doesnt affect acne.

Another myth is that acne is just a cosmetic problem – in other words, not a big issue. People who think this way disregard the effect it can have on the way people – especially teenagers – feel about themselves. The other issue is that it can permanently scar.br
Acne Vulgaris is the scientific name for common acne. It is so common, in fact, that studies have shown that 85% of the population will suffer from this condition at some stage during their lives. Most people experience acne as teenagers, but for many, that is only the beginning of the battle.

It is not uncommon for women to suffer acne well into their forties, thanks to hormonal cycles and changes within the female body. Adult men can also develop acne as a result of increased stress levels.

The Cause
Acne can result when pores (small holes in our skin) are blocked by oil or dead skin. The blockage creates a suitable environment for bacterial growth, which can then lead to infection.

Androgen hormones cause the sebaceous glands to produce excessive amounts of oil at the infected areas, which leads to redness, swelling and pus. This combination is seen on the surface of the skin as a pimple.

Treatments
There are many different treatments for acne, but unfortunately there is no single product that is guaranteed to work for everyone. The first thing to do is to keep the skin clean. Washing regularly helps to prevent the build up of oil and dirt, impeding the blockage of pores.

If the condition does not improve, it is best to seek medical treatment as soon as possible, since acne is progressive and can quickly go from mild to severe. Particularly severe cases can lead to permanent scarring of the skin.

If you are looking for acne treatments, youll know that there are many available to you. It can be advantageous to try a few different treatments so that you can identify which one works best for you. Free trials are particularly useful for this.

Take a look at my website below, where youll find a free trial offer for one of the latest acne treatments, among many other health products which are currently also offering free trials.

Teenage acne. Nothing worse can happen at a worse time. A teenager is already at an age where he or she is very self conscious about his or her image. Although acne is definitely seen on the outside, the affects it has on the inside can be very hurtful. Acne can lower a teens self esteem. It can make an otherwise outgoing child become a shy and introverted teenager. Its a fact that at least 20 million teenagers suffer from acne.

The earlier that acne is treated the better it will be. Once acne has started to go away the treatment needs to be continued. The type of treatment for acne is dependent on the severity of the acne. There are hundreds of different treatments available today.

Light to moderate cases of acne, that which include blackheads, whiteheads and papules, can usually be treated successfully with over the counter preparations. Most of these cleansers and scrubs and spot treatments contain salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. These generally work well. When washing your face do not scrub your skin. Dont use a washcloth. Scrubbing the skin can irritate acne and make it look and feel worse. Never pick or scratch the acne. This can cause scarring. Some of the over the counter preparations are extremely drying on the skin. Make sure you follow the manufacturers instructions for use. Over drying the skin isnt good as the skin may rebel against being over dry by producing more oil.

More severe cases of acne that include cysts and nodules may need the help of a dermatologist. A dermatologist will evaluate many different things such as age, lifestyle and co-existing conditions. The dermatologist may suggest a combination of two or three different therapies to be used at the same time.

A healthy diet may help your skin to improve, and it certainly is a wonderful lifestyle change. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Eat a diet high in fiber. Avoid refined sugar, hydrogenated oils and saturated fats. Drink at least six glasses of water a day.br
br
Acne is painful – on the inside. We live in a culture where not just youth, but beauty is worshipped. Its everywhere and you cant escape it. The results of having acne can be emotionally devastating for teenagers as they are extremely conscious of their appearance and their image. Even though they feel they suffer alone, they dont. The fact is that approximately 85% of the population in the United States has at some point suffered with acne, and approximately 17 million people have acne. You are far from alone.

Acne in teenagers is caused by the action of hormones on the skins oil glands. During puberty both boys and girls have an increase in the hormones called androgens. These hormones cause sebaceous glands under the surface of the skin to enlarge. The sebaceous glands in response produce excess oil. This excess oil mixes with bacteria and dead skin on the skins surface and blocks pores. Inside these pores the bacteria multiple and cause inflammation.

Acne is usually genetic, so you may not be able to avoid it. However there are things you should know, an things you can do to help you deal with it.

There are many myths surrounding acne. The most well known one is that chocolate and greasy foods cause breakouts. Over the years dermatologists have discovered there is no evidence of this claim. However, if you find you do break out more after eating certain foods, avoid them. Although it may not have an affect on your acne, eating a healthy diet complete with fruits and vegetables is a good idea. Another myth is that acne is caused by poor hygiene. This is not true at all. As mentioned above acne is caused by overproduction of oil, period. Myth three advises you to scrub your face several times a day. Actually, over washing your skin can cause it to become more inflamed. Also, if you use drying products to excess on you skin your skin may rebel by producing more oil.

Whatever one of the literally hundreds of treatments you decide to choose remember that acne takes time to disappear. Overnight or miraculous results dont happen. It takes six to eight weeks to see results from treatment. Once acne has cleared continued treatment will needed to prevent it from recurring.

If an acne treatment takes more than six to eight weeks to show a significant difference it probably wont work. Try something else.

You really should see the advice of a dermatologist. With the number of products on the market, how do you choose? What might clear one persons acne might not clear anothers. Your skin type and lesion types must be taken into consideration. Before you spend a bundle of money on an unknown treatment see a dermatologist. He or she can plan an individualized program based on your skins needs.br

Acne is a common skin condition that causes discomfort, embarrassment and, in some cases, pain and irritation. There are many misconceptions surrounding the causes and prevention of acne, including how diet can affect the frequency and severity of acne breakouts. While acne has traditionally been a common complaint of adolescents and teenagers, many people struggle with the condition throughout their adult lives. Acne affects more than ninety percent of the world’s population. It is not limited by age, or race, or sex. Acne is the most common skin disorder treated by dermatologists, with most patients being teenagers and adults.

Some scientific research has suggested that acne is caused by physiological factors like hormones and genetics. Others believe that environmental factors including bacteria can cause breakouts. For many years, it has also been debated that diet may contribute to the acne condition. Acne and diet is an issue that has spent many years under the spotlight.

Although some dermatologists claim that diet has nothing to do with the formation of acne, many still hold that acne and diet do indeed have a certain link. It does appear that the food we eat may well play a role in the development of acne.

Certain studies have shown that eating refined carbohydrates and sugars can lead to a surge of insulin, as well as an insulin-like growth factor known as IGF-1. When IGF-1 is released in the body, it can lead to an excess of male hormones called androgens. These hormones are deemed to be the most potent cause of acne formations. Further, the acne and diet connection maintains that when an excess amount of male hormones is produced, the pores of the skin will secrete sebum, an oily or greasy substance that generally pulls the attention of acne-causing bacteria. In addition, this process triggers the IGF-1 to cause skin cells known as keratinocytes to duplicate and multiply. This activity further contributes to the formation of acne.

Studies conducted on residents of the island of Papua, New Guinea, and the people of Paraguay have contributed further to the link between acne and diet. The results of this particular study led researchers to believe that a diet rich with grains can contribute to acne. Limited grains can optimize health benefits, and a no-grain diet may be beneficial in preventing acne.

The acne and diet issue remains one of the hottest topics in the medical field, however lack of funding may hinder the amount of actual research that is being conducted. Some critics have gone as far as to claim that doctors and dermatologists will claim that diet does not affect acne, so that they may sell more pharmaceutical treatments.

Poor nutrition contributes to many diseases. Of course, a healthy diet is important to overall well being, so it only stands to reason that eating a proper diet will help keep your skin healthy, too. If you find yourself in a constant battle against acne, remember to fight the physiological factors with a proper diet, and use the right treatments to combat the environmental aggravators.

When searching for adult acne treatments that will help you eliminate your stubborn adult acne and on-going blemish breakouts, you need to look back in your life and ask yourself some lifestyle changing questions so you can find the best solution for your acne eliminating needs!

If you have suffered with acne breakouts your entire teenage years, you may understand what needs to be done for the treatment of your pimples, or you may know exactly the treatment product necessary for elimination and daily maintenance.

However, if you had clear skin as a teen, and now that your body is changing due to hormones or pregnancy, you may suddenly experience a change in your complexion and may not know exactly how to handle the new changes in your skin.

When your pimple breakouts occur, if you notice you’re getting an increase in blackheads and whiteheads in combination to excess blemishes, try to think back and remember how your skin has been in the past. If your skin was clear due to good eating habits, low stress levels, and you were getting at least 8 hours or more of sleep prior to getting your adult acne, then that’s the first place you want to start.

For example: As a teenager, if you slept more than eight hours a day, drank plenty of water, and you ate more vegetables and fruit, and now as an adult you only get 4 hours of sleep, you drink less water, and you’re not eating the same level of fruits and veggies, then you may want to adjust these areas first. If you change these habits, and notice no change, you then have to go to the next step, and make an appointment to see a dermatologist.

When All Else Fails, Visit A Dermatologist To Get The Bottom Of Your Adult Acne Issues!

If you can’t figure out why you’re still having skin problems after you made necessary internal lifestyle changes, then you should see the skin professionals to find out what’s causing your stubborn adult zits, and you may be enlightened once you visit your local dermatologist.

Depending on the severity of your skin condition, you may soon find out the condition you have is caused by several circumstances. For women, acne and increased blemishes can be easily caused by hormonal changes due to pregnancy. A woman that is pregnant will have to look at alternative safe skin programs, and natural skin products would be a place to start. Women with hormonal changes that are not currently going through a pregnancy can look at other options such as oral acne medication or antibiotics, but keep in mind that this method should not be a long-term solution, so if you can avoid internal medication, look at other alternatives.

Men are somewhat different, and in most cases, increased acne causing a blemished complexion could be the lack of facial care, or mental stress in your life. For men in general, a good blemish cleansing and facial exfoliating routine combined with a healthy diet are the first steps to follow; however, we encourage that men see a skin doctor to assess their adult skin problems.

Acne and aging is a complex situation, and there is never one solution to every individual adult suffering from pimple breakouts. There are many contributing factors such as your body’s changes during puberty, and for women, even the type of cosmetics you may be applying to your face. Your facial skin consists of thousands of pores, follicles, skin and oil. Any negative balance, and you have a recipe for facial infections, plus outbreaks that can lead to many skin imperfections and severe scarring for a very long time.

We touched briefly on what may contribute to your adult acne, and some of the changes that may be occuring in your body internally and also externally. Now, to find out how you can start a program to eliminate your adult blemish problem: I encourage you to read our article on where I break down some of the top adult acne systems that target stubborn facial and body acne.

There is no exact cause for acne. There are several factors that doctors think bring on this problem for many people. One of those important factors is the hormone level in the body. The hormones are called androgens and increase in both boys and girls when they are going through puberty. This is the reason why there are so many pre teens and teenagers that have to deal with acne get some form of acne medication to treat it.
Another cause of acne is genetics. If a child has a parent that had to deal with a lot of acne problems as a child, then chances are they will too. When a pre teen or teenager sees that they are having a problem with acne, it is important for them to seek acne medication to help fight this problem early so that there are no long term affects of the acne.
One factor that can cause acne in girls is their menstrual period. This is a time when hormones are really active and this can cause a flare up of problems in most pre adolescent girls. There are many acne medications that can treat this problem and get their skin looking perfect again over a time period. It will take time for the skin to clear up and get back to normal.

Pregnancy and birth control pills are another reason why women get acne. When a woman is pregnant this is a time when her hormones are changing and all different things are happening to her body. Birth control pills are another source that will cause women to have an acne problem and have to resort to acne medication.

Certain medications that people have to take can also cause acne to occur in certain people. This is typically normal and can affect just about anyone. Usually once the body accepts the medications the acne will stop or at least lessen. There are acne medications to help when this is the case.
Certain fabrics as well can cause acne to appear also. Wearing tight collars, backpacks, and hats can bring on a case of acne on any part of the body. That is another factor; acne can be on any part of the body. It is not just limited to the face. When acne appears on different parts of the body, you may be able to control it with over the counter medicine or you may have to go to a doctor for your acne medications.
There are many myths of way acne starts, like chocolate or greasy foods. However, there are no actual links to these rumors and it is not proven. However, in some cases a person’s diet will affect their skin and that it why it is important to have a healthy well balanced diet so that you do not need acne medications in the future.
